There is no web form, no phone-number field, and no consent checkbox anywhere in this opt-in flow. The website only displays the invitation to text. The consumer provides consent and their mobile number by manually sending the keyword RENTAL from their own mobile device to (949) 593-3847. The website does not submit a phone number or enroll the consumer automatically.
How the SMS opt-in works
South OC Rentals rental listing detail pages display the invitation to opt in by text. The website itself does not collect SMS consent. The actual opt-in occurs when the consumer manually sends the keyword RENTAL from their own mobile device to (949) 593-3847. The listing detail experience includes a “Questions about this rental?” section with a text-message option for Jacob Lawlor / South OC Rentals.

What the consumer does
When a consumer selects the text option on a rental listing, their messaging application opens with a prefilled message beginning with the keyword RENTAL and identifying the rental they are asking about. The consumer must manually send the message from their own device. Nothing is sent by the website.
